Origin empowers the grocery stores of India’s slums with low-cost technology to unite their buying power and bring ethical, healthier, and more affordable food to their community. Aer Design was engaged to design the brand and visual style for Origin, ensuring it promoted the optimistic community values of the Origin vision and reflected the impact the app would have on the community.
Drawing on the idea of beginnings, the Origin brandmark utilises a flexible system which brings together the technically driven data systems with a human, community minded aesthetic that speaks to corporate sectors and consumers alike. The visual style utilises bright, hopeful colours inspired by the rich palette of India. People focused imagery is also used to humanise the app and place emphasis on the community that would reap the benefits. The app also has the potential to be adapted to other developing countries and communities.
